Resting undisturbed turtles had a body temperature of 22°C. Values are given for turtles before heating in untreated animals on the first day, and before and after atropine infusion (5 mg kg-1) on the second day.

Values are means ± s.e.m.(N=6 for all variables except fh and sys, where N=7).

fh, heart rate; Vstot, total stroke volume; pul, pulmonary blood flow; sys, systemic blood flow; Rsys, systemic resistance; Psys, mean s systemic blood flow; shunt, net shunt flow; pul/sys,ratio of pulmonary and systemic blood flow.

*

Significant difference from untreated animals; significant difference between untreated and pre-atropinised animals (P<0.05).
