O2est and FMRest were determined from the fH values using equation 1[log(O2)=—0.279+1.24log(fh)+0.0237n—0.0157log(fh)n,r2=0.81], where n=number of days fasting, or equation 2A[log(O2)=1.35log(fh)—0.488, r2=0.86] from Fahlman et al.(2004), for birds ashore and while at sea, respectively.
