Call for papers: Cell Biology of Lipids
Journal of Cell Science is pleased to welcome submissions for consideration for an upcoming special issue, Cell Biology of Lipids, which will be guest edited by James Olzmann (University of California, Berkeley). Lipids are the main component of cellular membranes, but have key roles in many essential cellular processes, as well as important structural and signalling functions. Lipid modifications, such as palmitoylation and farnesylation, are also important determinants for the cellular location of proteins. Dysregulation of lipids and their metabolism, therefore, can have dire consequences for cell homeostasis, and can lead to devastating diseases, such as Niemann-Pick, Tay-Sachs and Gaucher. Fortunately, research into the function of lipids in areas such as organelle crosstalk is currently providing fundamental insights into cell regulation and homeostasis, although there is an urgent need for new and improved technological advances to visualize and manipulate individual lipids.
We invite you to showcase your breakthrough research on all aspects of cell biology as it relates to lipids for this special issue, which is scheduled for publication in early 2022. Please note, however, that in our continuous publication model, we will be able to publish your article shortly after it is accepted; you will not have to wait for the rest of the issue to be ready.
We encourage submissions of Research Articles and Short Reports, and Tools & Resources papers. Articles must be received by 15 August 2021 for consideration for the special issue. Please refer to our author guidelines for information on preparing your manuscript for Journal of Cell Science, and submit your manuscript via our online submission system. Please highlight that your submission is to be considered for the special issue in your cover letter. This special issue is intended to have a broad scope, so we are open to articles from a wide spectrum of areas. For rapid feedback on the potential suitability of an article for this special issue, please submit a presubmission enquiry.
